Attorney Kara Dodson’s practice is primarily devoted to civil litigation focused in the areas of real estate, construction, and business disputes. Kara has also defended clients against misdemeanor criminal charges, including but not limited to driving under the influence, domestic violence, and criminal damaging. She has effectively represented clients in countless jury and bench trials in both civil and criminal matters.

Kara graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University where she majored in Criminology and Political Science. While attending Ohio State, she was enrolled in the honors program and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Societies as well as the women’s club ice hockey team.

While earning her J.D. at the University of Akron, Kara served as a Staff Member and an Associate Editor of the Akron Law Review. Her comment, Is Justice for Sale in Ohio?, was published in a 2001 edition of the law review (35 Akron Law Review 159). Kara earned the Ernest Karam Award for Academic Excellence in 1999-2000 and ranked second in her class upon graduation.

Kara has been recognized for her achievements by being identified as a “Rising Star” by Ohio’s Super Lawyers Magazine. This publication recognizes only 2.5% of the top attorneys in the state of Ohio under the age of 40. In 2013, she was selected as a recipient of the Twenty Under 40! award from the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to joining Soles Law Offices, Kara worked as an assistant prosecutor in Wayne County Municipal Court. She has also worked as an intern at the Massillon Law Department and the Stark County Legal Aid Society.

Kara was born in Massillon, Ohio where she still resides with her husband, Scott, and their sons, Joel and Grant. She is currently the Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of CommQuest Services, a member of the Advisory Board for the Administrative Board for the Administrative Services and Office Applications Department of Stark State College and a member of the Massillon Women’s Club and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Massillon YWCA. Kara is an avid fan of Buckeye football and also enjoys movies, music, and scrapbooking.
